What Are Partnerships?

Partnerships let you cross-promote with other captains on Guidewinds. When you partner with another charter, you can refer anglers to each other and earn a commission on every successful booking that comes from your referral.

How It Works

  • You refer a angler: They book with your partner, and you earn a commission
  • A partner refers to you: They earn a commission when their referral books one of your trips
  • Everyone wins: Anglers get great recommendations, and both captains grow their revenue

No Extra Cost

Partnerships are included in your Guidewinds plan. Commissions come from the referring partner agreement, not from Guidewinds fees.

Finding Partners

The Discovery page helps you find captains who complement your trips.

Using the Discovery Page

  1. Go to Dashboard → Partnerships → Discover
  2. Search by location, trip type, or charter name
  3. Browse profiles and reviews of potential partners
  4. Click "Send Partnership Request" to get started

What Makes a Good Partner

  • Complementary trips: They offer something you don't, so referrals feel natural
  • Same area: Your anglers can easily access their offerings
  • Good reputation: High ratings and positive reviews protect your credibility

Pro Tip

Start with captains you already know and trust. Personal relationships make the best partnerships.

Setting Terms

When you send or receive a partnership request, both sides agree on terms before anything is active.

Commission Percentage

Set the percentage each partner earns on referred bookings. Common rates range from 5% to 15% of the booking value.

Reciprocal vs. One-Way

  • Reciprocal: Both captains refer to each other and earn commissions in both directions
  • One-way: Only one partner sends referrals (useful when trips don't overlap)

Approval Workflow

  1. One partner sends a request with proposed terms
  2. The other partner reviews and accepts, counters, or declines
  3. Once both agree, the partnership goes live

You Control the Terms

Either partner can propose changes at any time. Nothing changes until both sides accept the updated terms.

Managing Active Partnerships

Once a partnership is active, you can monitor everything from your dashboard.

Viewing Partner Activity

Go to Dashboard → Partnerships to see:

  • All active partnerships and their status
  • Recent referrals sent and received
  • Pending partnership requests

Earnings Dashboard

The earnings tab shows your referral income at a glance:

  • Total earned: Lifetime commission from referrals
  • This month: Current period earnings
  • Per partner: Breakdown by each partner relationship

Communication

Message your partners directly from the partnership detail page. Keep communication in one place so you can coordinate promotions, discuss availability, or resolve any issues.

Tracking Referral Earnings

How Referrals Are Tracked

When a angler books through your referral link or code, the system automatically attributes the booking to your partnership. You can see the referral status in real time.

Payout Schedule

  • Commissions are calculated after the booking is completed
  • Payouts are processed monthly via your connected Stripe account
  • You'll receive an email summary with each payout

Minimum Threshold

A minimum payout threshold of $25 applies. If your earnings for the month are below this, they roll over to the next payout period.

Pro Tip

Check Partnerships → Earnings regularly to see which partners are driving the most bookings your way.

Tips for Successful Partnerships

Choose Complementary Captains

The best partnerships aren't with competitors—they're with captains whose trips pair well with yours. Think about what your anglers do before and after booking with you.

Go Reciprocal

Two-way referral partnerships tend to last longer and generate more revenue for both sides. When both captains are invested, everyone stays motivated.

Maintain the Relationship

  • Check in with partners regularly
  • Share feedback from referred anglers
  • Coordinate during busy seasons to maximize referrals
  • Update your terms if the arrangement isn't working

Quality Over Quantity

A few strong partnerships will outperform a dozen weak ones. Focus on captains who share your standards for angler experience.
