What Is the Morning Briefing?

The Morning Briefing is a daily summary that appears on your dashboard each morning. It gives you everything you need to know about the day ahead in one glance — no digging through calendars, weather apps, or reports.

Think of it as your personal operations briefing. It's generated fresh each day using your real booking data, local weather forecasts, and revenue history.

Available on All Plans

The Morning Briefing is included with every Guidewinds plan at no extra cost. Whether you're just getting started or running a fleet, you'll get a daily briefing tailored to your operation.

What's Included

Each Morning Briefing covers four key areas:

Today's Bookings

A complete rundown of every booking on your calendar today. You'll see:

  • Number of bookings and total anglers expected
  • Trip types, times, and group sizes
  • Any special requests or notes from anglers
  • Angler contact information for quick reference

Weather Conditions

A local weather forecast for your area, including temperature, wind speed, precipitation chance, and wave conditions (when applicable). This helps you make go/no-go decisions early and proactively communicate with anglers if conditions look unfavorable.

Revenue Summary

A snapshot of your financial performance, including today's expected revenue, week-to-date totals, and how you're trending compared to the same period last month. Spot trends early and adjust your strategy.

Action Items

The briefing highlights anything that needs your attention:

  • Unconfirmed bookings that need a response
  • Pending deposits or outstanding payments
  • Angler messages awaiting reply
  • Upcoming bookings with incomplete details

Pro Tip

Check your Morning Briefing before your first cup of coffee. Addressing action items early — especially unconfirmed bookings — keeps your day running smoothly and shows anglers you're responsive.

Enabling and Disabling

The Morning Briefing is enabled by default when you create your Guidewinds account. If you'd like to turn it off or back on:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Settings → Notifications
  2. Find the Morning Briefing toggle
  3. Switch it on or off
  4. Click "Save Changes"

You can also configure email delivery. When enabled, a copy of your briefing is sent to your inbox each morning so you can review it on the go.

Delivery Time

The Morning Briefing refreshes daily based on your timezone setting. It appears on your dashboard when you first log in and, if email delivery is on, arrives in your inbox around 6 AM local time.

Reading Your Briefing

When you open your dashboard, the Morning Briefing appears as a card at the top of the page. It's designed to be scannable:

  • Green indicators mean everything looks good — no action needed
  • Yellow indicators flag items that could use your attention soon
  • Red indicators highlight urgent items like weather alerts or overdue responses

Click any section to expand it for more detail, or click a specific booking to jump directly to its detail page.

Making the Most of Your Briefing

Build a Morning Routine

The briefing works best as part of a consistent routine. Spend 2 minutes each morning reviewing it, resolve any action items, and you'll start the day fully prepared.

Use It for Team Coordination

If you have staff or crew, the briefing gives you talking points for a quick morning huddle. Everyone knows the day's schedule, angler details, and any special considerations.

Watch the Trends

The revenue comparison in each briefing builds awareness of your business patterns over time. You'll start noticing which days, weeks, and seasons perform best without having to dig into analytics.

Pair with Analytics

The Morning Briefing gives you a daily snapshot. For deeper analysis of trends and performance, visit your Analytics dashboard weekly to review longer-term patterns.

Troubleshooting

Briefing Not Showing Up?

  • Make sure you've set your timezone in Dashboard → Settings → Business Details
  • Check that the Morning Briefing toggle is enabled in notification settings
  • The briefing only appears if you have upcoming bookings or active trips — it won't show on a completely blank account

Weather Data Missing?

Weather information requires your business address to be set. Go to Dashboard → Settings → Business Details and confirm your location is filled in.
